Hopi Ear Candle

Hopi Ear Candle

An ancient, Indian Relaxation Ceremony that calms the mind and soothes the head and ears. Hopi Ear Candling can benefit conditions such as compacted ear wax, headaches, tinnitus, vertigo, sinusitis, snoring, stress and much more. Includes a pressure point facial massage. Treatment time is approximately 45 minutes.

Hopi Ear Candles (Also known as Thermal Auricular Therapy) are hollow tubes made of cotton, soaked in beeswax, honey extracts, sage, St Johns Wort, chamomile, beta-carotene and organically grown flax. When lit, the candle acts like a chimney, causing the warm air inside it to rise and creating a vacuum at the bottom. This vacuum gently stimulates the ear, facilitating removal of excess wax and impurities. They equalise the pressure in the head and ears, making them suitable for most conditions. Secretion flow is gently stimulated and the vapour collects and removes impurities or deposits. These ear candles induce a revitalising heat upon the head and ears, which soothes, relieves and relaxes. It is important to note that the candle does not suck wax out of the ear; it stimulates the ear to eliminate the wax naturally, ensuring maximum safety.

This is an ancient and natural therapy handed down by many civilisations. It is believed that the Ancient Greeks used ear candles, initially probably for cleansing, purifying and healing on a spiritual basis, but much later on a purely physical basis. However, the practice reached the modern world via the native American Hopi Indians of North Arizona (it's interesting to note that Hopi means peaceful people). Ear candles were used traditionally by Shamen healers. Ancient wall paintings show their importance in initiation rituals and healing ceremonies of the tribe. The candles are still made today on the basis of the old traditional formula originating from the Hopi Indians.

The treatment is carried out in a relaxed, draught free atmosphere with you lying in a comfortable position on your side with your head supported on a pillow. A small cotton towel or flannel will cover your hair. The lit candle is inserted carefully into the outer ear and the flame is allowed to burn down to within a short distance of a marked red line, when the candle is removed gently and extinguished in some water. The therapist massages gently around the ear, using draining movements down the neck. The procedure is repeated with the other ear, and then the you lie on your back for gentle drainage massage on the face. It is then important for you to have a drink of water and lie still for about 15 minutes before standing up.

Ear candling is a beneficial and safe therapy as long as the therapists have received the correct training and only use regulated candles. It is also important that you remember that the candles are not a medication but a complementary therapy.

Hopi candles can be used for many conditions including deafness caused by excess wax, congested sinuses, irritation in the ears, ringing or noises in the ears, tinnitus, rhinitis, glue ear, colds, flu, headaches and migraines.Other benefits of Hopi Ear Candles are:
